    G’morning everyone!
Letmein, did you go to the art fair? We were down there Saturday in the rain and LOVING it (until I broke my umbrella). We ended up at the Juke Joint and I was dressed like a surburban housewife on her way to the grocery store (but still dressed better than 90% of the folks in there).

Some chick had on what HAD to have been her prom dress from 1989. A guy had on a black & white tiny polka dot suit. Another guy had one on of those tall T’s with the rhinestones ALL over it. Some guy had on a shirt that we kept calling “angel hair”.
    Folks were a HOT mess.
We ended up having a mini high school reunion in there because there were sooooo many Sumner folks together. It was weird that so many people were in town.

  5. Lovely….naw didn’t make it to the art fair. I wasn’t feeling too hot over the weekend. I did good to make it through my volunteer shift at my son’s school carnival. Um, Saturday isn’t one of the best nights to be at the Juke. Did they play any good music? Usually it’s blues night on Saturdays. Did they have a live band? CTFU @ the tall rhinstoned tee!

  6. They had a live band that had 2 chicks singing and they were REALLY good. We were kicking it (thanks to so many Patron shots I can’t count them).
I think it was more fun for me because there was a group of us/friends and we kicked it together.
I love seeing old folks 2-step. Some couple was out there KILLING young folks on the dance floor.

  7. What were you sick with? I hope you feel better.
    How was your anniversary?

  8. Every live band I’ve seen down there has been good so far. These young bucks ain’t got shit on the old school 2-steppers around here! I used to love to dance with my daddy! He would be cutting up!

  9. Good Morning Everyone!

  10. crookedlettereye says:

Morning Fam. Burr. Its cold out…What’s shaking?

  11. Letmein – I know! My grandma is soooooo super smooth. I love to watch her dance.
My mom says she’s the undisputed, reigning 2-step tri-state champion. I love to watch her dance with my cousin — they KILL it.

Me and the man try but we need another 10 years of practice. I think you can tell we’re concentrating when we do it.

  12. Good morning family. What it do? Who turned off the heat!!!!

  13. YLY – I’m so glad the heat is gone! I had my windows open all weekend.
    Heat is NOT my friend.

  14. Well, it’s 80 degrees here right now.

SoBro and YLY, after the suffocating heat I endured this past summer, you will not hear me complain at all about cooler or cold weather. I’m with Lovely, Heat is not my friend.

  15. Jacque – it truly was the most suffocating, stifling, oppressive heat I’ve ever experienced. I’ve always loved winter because the air is so crisp and I feel so alive.
I hope the leaves start to change colors soon, the colors are always so pretty. There’s a tree that turns hot pink close to my grandma’s house. She and I get so excited about the trees…

  16. HersheysKiss says:

Ahhhh! An amazing day followed by an amazing weekend.
    Hey Happy People!

  17. Jacque, did you watch Desperate Housewives and B&S?

  18. Yes Lovely, I watched both. What are your thoughts?

  19. Word of the Day

    September 27

    rectilinear
    \rek-tuh-LINN-ee-er\

    adjective

1 : moving in or forming a straight line

2 : characterized by straight lines

    EXAMPLE SENTENCES:
Maps of rectilinear states like Colorado and Utah are much easier to draw freehand than those of states with jagged outlines.

“The four-story structure extends the original 1907 Beaux Arts building’s low profile but dispenses with the neo-Classical columns, capitals, entablatures and whatnot in favor of severe, rectilinear blocks: a central glass atrium — 12,184 square feet under a 63-foot ceiling — flanked by granite and glass pavilions containing 53 galleries.”

  20. I like it HOT! I despise winter and everything wintry. Have to wear too many clothes, dry air messing with my sinus’, hat hair, snow, ice, COLD. Winter sucks, except for Christmas.

  21. Desp Hwives:
    - I don’t know how I feel about the addition of Vanessa Williams. I’m glad there’s some color on the block again but I didn’t like how catty she was last night. I’ll reserve judgement until she moves out of Lynette’s home.
    - Carlos & Gabby — I love her hair when it’s long like that. I feel bad for them both carrying those secrets and I kind of don’t blame Gabby for not wanting to tell Carlos about his mom. I can’t imagine what he’s feeling knowing the secret about his daughter. I just hope the 2 secrets don’t break them up; I like them together.
    - Bree — hmmm… I don’t care much about her storyline just yet.
    - Susan — sooooooo over the top, unbelievable. I guess that’ll be the comedic part of the show for the next few weeks and I’m assuming either Tom or Carlos will see her and tell Mike.
    - Lynette — same ol’ same ol’

  22. B&S:
Since I didn’t see the last 2-3 weeks last season (and didn’t watch them online over the weekend), I felt kind of lost on a couple of things. I didn’t know Kevin & Scottie lost the baby and I didn’t know Rebecca left Justin.
I actually got a little emotional a couple of times during the show though so I guess I’ll keep watching this season.

  23. Good Morning BBP’s! Happy Monday! Well, I’m stuck at 13 lbs… :| Although eating right is not an issue for me, exercize is! Instead of daily, I’ve only gotten in like 3 days per week. So, that’s the battle that I’m dealing with now. But I will prevail! God is my strength! Anyway, I hope you all had a great weekend. I’m looking forward to this weekend, going to PD’s homecoming. The weekend is FILLED with fun! Friday night, concert Doug E. Fresh & Slick Rick & also LeToya Luckett. Saturday morning is the parade & PD’s in that since she’s the Sophomore VP, Saturday afternoon is the game, saturday night is the stepshow! I’m too hyped! Hubby & J aren’t going this time cuz hubby’s J’s football coach & they have a game this weekend that they didn’t wanna miss. So, it’s just me, sister, momma, & niece. I’m so excited!!! Okay I’m done, what’s the T? *scrolling up*

  24. I prefer the fall. I love the color changes! Not too hot, not too cold. I love the LOOK of winter and would appreciate it more if I didn’t have to get out and drive in it.

  25. I LOVED Gabby’s hair too! According to the previews shown for next week, it looks as if Carlos is telling her something. Agree with you about Lynette.

On B&S, those storylines weren’t covered during the season. The show picked up 1 year later after the horrible car accident which was the season finale.

  26. 12 – That sounds like a fun weekend!!!

  27. LOL at Letmein loving the LOOK of winter!

  28. Letmein – winter driving isn’t a huge ordeal for me. It seems like we only have 6-7 bad snow days every winter and KS does a good job of quick snow removal (I won’t comment on Funkhouser and what he does). I think winter gets a bad rap becuase the few tiems it DOES snow alot sticks out in everyones mind more than the rest of the days where there might be 6 inches of snow in the grass but the streets are dry as a bone.

  29. Jacque – ohhhh! I didn’t see the finale or the weeks preceeding it.
Holly is a trip. Does she have pre-Alzheimers or something?

  30. Jacque….’cause it’s so beautiful!!! All that wintery white in the tree limbs with icicles hanging everywhere….BEAUTIFUL….then SCREEEECH…CRASH….BAMM….you don’ ran into a fucking telephone pole or slid in a ditch. Awesome wonder my ass!

  31. Should a picture of black Jesus, with an afro and a dashiki be confirmation enough that it’s the right high school for my son?

  32. Well… it’s not even 10:30 and I’ve already eaten my lunch.
It’s gonna be a LONG day.

  33. >lovely, yes ma’am, we gon’ KICK IT! >ylawd, I’m with you, I DESPISE winter! But like letmein, I like the ‘look’ of it, just don’t like being out in it. I think icicles on bare trees with the sun glistening on them is the most beautiful sight! I love the color of fall leaves too. I’d have to say my favorite season is fall cuz it’s not too hot or too cold. But I LOVE summer cuz I love wearing sandals. I love having my feet out. Then there’s my fave pair of leather flip-flops that I love wearing. My bf wears flip-flops in the winter. I told her stop ackin 25/20!

  34. letmein – where is he going? Cooley High?

  35. >letmein, stop playin…they DO NOT have a pic of black jesus sporting a fro & dashiki!!!

  36. I need help. *not that kind HK* I have been assigned the task of planning a short getaway for me and my sibs. No one has any ideas other than it must have blue water and palm trees. I’m thinking maybe Grand Bahama Island. Anyone been there? Any other suggestions? It needs to be moderately priced as our income levels are disparate, from bros out of the stratosphere to baby sis’s civil servant pittance.

  37. Lovely….I bet I stood there for what felt like 10 minutes trying to figure it out. I was like is that Jesus? Naw, can’t be. But dang He has that halo around His head like Jesus. He had His hand stretched out like ‘come to me’. **giggle** **straight face**

  38. Good day Chocolate folks!! I saw Desperate Housewives and may I say BORING! I know they have to build back up but it just seemed like everything was all over the place last night. They could have come up with a better way to segue Vanessa Williams onto the show… and WTF is up with that wack azz storyline regarding Juanita for Gabby and Carlos…. Susan is always good for doing something over the top and foolish, so nothing has changed for her. I hope they bring it together soon, b/c right now I’m bored….

  39. Found out Friday that my son has been having a problem saying ‘crap’ at school. **giggle** **straight face**

  40. Lovely, Holly’s issues are a result of the car accident, though they haven’t explained it in detail yet, she must have suffered severe injuries to the head.

  41. Hey folks. What in the heyall was I thinking to catch a 7:00 am flight home and coming straight into the office? I had to drive 1.5 hours to get to the airport, so I’ve been up since 2:00 CST. Pray for my eyelids…

Love/Letme, how ironic y’all were talking about two steps and juke joints! I went to a hole in the wall spotthis weekend where a one legged dude on crutches was JAMMIN in the dance floor. His ‘two step’ was more of a ‘three step’ with his one leg and crutches. But, I dayum near lost it when a dude walked up in the club with a HAIRNET on. This ninja wasn’t even cooking either (they were serving BBQ and fried chicken on the back patio)… SMH

  42. Does anyone have that John Legend/The Roots cd? I really wanna get that!

    • Yeah, I have it, it’s nice. But I was around for some of the original songs, and it doesn’t touch those. But you’ll enjoy it.

  43. I’m interested to know what the hairnet was for if he wasn’t cooking :?: :???:
Soooo y’all gon’ really make we work up in here, huh? What d’hell are y’all doing?!

  44. I was in a meeting… back now.

Sooooo, ninjas just rock hairnets as a fashion accessory now?! :???:

  45. I just purchased tickets for me and some out of town guests to go see Kevin Hart. Why was the fother mucking convenience fee 35% of the ticket price.

That fool better make me bust a gut.

  46. LHM – if he does “Say it with yo’ chest ninja!” you will DIE!

Jacque – thanks for the tip about Holly.

  47. I waited to the last minute to try to buy tickets to Kevin Hart and they were sold out. *sad face*

  48. My co-worker is wearing an ugly shirt today (that I’ve never seen) and I just said “uh oh! Somebody is all dressed up today!” and she said thank you and smiled.

I’m so mean… I was thinking “uh oh! Somebody is all dressed up for the homeless parade today!”

  49. Hey Boos and Bruhs!!! It’s been a couple weeks. Been killing it at the office and have not had time to step in a say whaz up. What’s the haps?

Oh, I can’t believe I missed ya’lls comments on the Eddie Long thing since the story broke last week.

  50. Ex – what did you think of that Wet & Wild toupee and the Star Trek outfit he wore to church yesterday?

  51. *my mom said he looked like the ninja version of Hadji from Johnny Quest…

  52. Lovely your mama got jokes. Hilarious jokes.

  53. Hey Ex. I miss you.

  54. Love,
LOL. Leave it to you to describe what I sorta felt on a visceral level but couldn’t exactly put to words. In the words of Hersh …. Brahahahaha! The Star Trek suit, I could have gotten along with, but the toupee…. I’on know… WTH was that about? It’s not like we haven’t already seen his hair was balding from the 50-11 other sermons he’s done sans toupee.

  55. Juice,
The feeling is mutual. I miss you and the rest of the gang. Been getting my Jamaican on over the last two weeks to try to get this thing going.

  56. OJ – she’s silly
I didn’t even get it when she said it… I had to google and see who the heck Hadji was. My grandma cracked up though so I figured it was funny.

  57. Ex – Yeah, that hair was killing him! Huggy Low Down said it looked like he had it on backwards.

How are you gonna be (allegedly) fruity in ATLANTA and not be a little more fly than that?

  58. *waving hard* Heyyyy exy! How’s the new business venture coming along?

  59. CTFU about him having it on backwards! I miss Huggy Low Down!

  60. My new ‘repeat’ song….Last Night by Anthony Hamilton. *girlie sigh*

  61. phillysfinestone says:

Hi e’erbody! Let>>>you sure that wasn’t JJ’s Ned the Wino portrait? Fast Eddie is only making his situation worse with the lace front.

  62. lockedsista says:

 I really not liking EUR lately. Everytime I try to post it’s showing my fb status.

  63. Robin Hart I refuse to belive that. People need to start credible rumors if they are going spread rumors.

  64. LMAO Philly…that’s almost worth the 2nd trip to make sure! The name of the school is Cristo Rey. Does anyone have one in their state? They just opened here 4 years ago but I know they have other schools in other states.

  65. Any suggestions for a Halloween costume?

  66. Lockedsista and Robin, where did you read that?was it on a blog or a credible news outlet?

  67. FB status: If Bishop Eddie Long had’a been the choir director, nobody would’a said nothing. We would have seen that one coming…

  68. Hey A12. The new venture is coming along fine. I’ve hit the ground running with work. It’s a bit different now that I’m invoicing folks, ’cause money has to make its way back to me in “net 30 days.” That’s a bit different than a regular paycheck. But honestly, the autonomy and knowing that my efforts are going directly to my bottomline is an incredible feeling. I’m loving it! Still have a bit of fear, but by far the excitement and contentment overwhelm all feelings of fear.

I keep the scripture of God not giving us a spirit of fear but of love, power, and a sound mind in my back pocket daily.

Love and miss you guys. But thanks for all of the prayers, the lil FB love notes, and thoughts.

Love, that FB post ain’t even right!!!

  69. Ex – I thought about you the other day. One of my friends passed the MO bar and was sworn in last week. I’m so proud of him! He’s married w/ 5 kids and his wife is also an attorney.

  70. @ Love. Nice! I’m glad for your friend. That’s a big achievement. And to do that with 5 crumbsnatchers…. Whooo Lawd! That man (and his wife) deserve a medal!

  71. Yeah, they’re so troopers. He loves his family and I think they’re super special. They support each other and set a good example for everybody… I wanna be like them when I grow up.

  72. I’m also super proud of you for answering to yourself!! I love black folks in motion!!

  73. Thanks Love. Had to do it. Glad I did.

  74. So if I ever need a legal team I’ll have you, a couple of cousins, a few friends and an old-head Kappa who wants me to sleep with him.

  75. I’m outta here… you have a good evening.
It’s nap time in the midwest and my bed is SCREAMING my name.
