*On Sunday, September 26th, Club Nokia in L.A. will transform from a night club to a soap opera. R&B singer Will Downing is set to perform his new audio novel Lust, Love and Lies and he is bringing on the drama!
The tale may not be based on a true story, but Downing ensures it is a tale we’ve all been through at one time or another. Lust, Love and Lies is a tale of romance, passion, joy and heartbreak. Complete with intermittent vignettes of intimate conversations that help move the story along, the audio novel includes elements of comedy, tragedy, playfulness and irony. The album will hit stores on September 14th through Peak Records, a division of Concord Music Group.
“This record had actually been coming together in my mind for five years,” Downing says. “Then when I first started writing the songs, it started to make sense as a story,” Downing added.
The story opens with the shimmering and atmospheric “Glad I Met You Tonight,” a smoky account of a chance encounter loaded with romantic potential introducing the two main characters Will and Dee, who reappear elsewhere throughout the album’s thick plot. The album tells a timeless story that somehow never gets old, “from being in lust with someone from the moment you see them, to being intrigued by them, to potentially falling in love with them, to whatever comes after that,” says Downing.
Doors open at 6 p.m., showtime starts at 7 p.m. Tickets range from $19.50 to 49.50, so contact Club Nokia at 213-765-7000.
