*Model Jessica White was arrested on Saturday (Oct. 23) after getting into a fight over a cab in New York.

White, 26, was held for 12 hours before being charged with misdemeanor assault, and the police report states that she repeatedly hit her victim in “the face,” as well as “pulling her hair,” reports the New York Post.

White, who had dated Terrell Owens and was seeing actor Sean Penn until recently, is due in court on Dec. 15.

Her lawyer, Mark Jay Heller, said that White was celebrating her new “single status” in Chelsea with some close friends, when a woman approached her while she was attempting to hail a cab. The pair then began tussling, and Heller added, “From what I understand, White was not the instigator.”

“The Sports Illustrated supermodels that I represent, such as Rachel Hunter and Jessica White, are all good sports and super people, not the type of women that get into catfights,” Heller told the Post. “Stories concerning celebrities frequently get blown up, and I’m confident that when the air is released from this blown-up story that has obviously been overinflated, all that will be left will be hot air with no substance.”

According to witnesses, White walked to 10th Avenue at about 4:50 a.m. to hail a taxi after leaving a Chelsea club. But while standing on the corner of West 17th Street, she got into a dispute with “a 28-year-old woman.” According to the court complaint, White “pulled the victim’s hair and struck [the victim] numerous times in the face with her hand, causing abrasions, swelling and substantial pain.”

White, a native of Buffalo, has been modeling since she was 16, and in 2006 made her acting debut in the film “Big Momma’s House 2.” She has since appeared in a number of music videos, including those of John Legend, and Jay-Z.

The Post points out that she’s “no stranger to trouble with the law,” citing  reports that she once allegedly damaged a girl’s car with a baseball bat during an argument when she was a teenager, and that fashion-industry insiders describe her as a “firecracker.”

“She was troublesome on shoots,” the paper quotes of a source. “She would chain-smoke on set, snap at the hairdressers and the makeup artists. She changed agencies several times because she’s supposedly difficult to work with.”
