*One of Oprah Winfrey’s syndicated spawns is struggling in the ratings.
Her interior designer protégé Nate Berkus, who debuted a daily show last month, is earning about 1.2 million viewers a day — a distant No. 2, for example, to his New York competitor, HLN’s Nancy Grace, who gets about 2 million viewers a day, the New York Post reports.
Winfrey also launched the daytime shows of Dr. Phil, Rachael Ray and Dr. Oz. Each became the highest-rated new program of the year.
The Hollywood Reporter’s Lindsay Powers writes: “Possibly tripping Berkus up: his unfocused show spans topics ranging from celebrity interviews to household tips.”
Winfrey, meanwhile, is due to launch her OWN Network early next year.
