*Talking to press after last night’s MOBO (Music of Black Origin) awards in the UK, Nelly insisted that Chris Brown should no longer have to apologize for assaulting ex-girlfriend Rihanna last year because “he’s learned his lesson now.”

“What people seem to forget is that this was a kid, a kid that made a mistake that, sadly, grown men make every day,” he told the Daily Star.

“If we’re going to give anyone the benefit of the doubt, it should be a kid. Chris has been through a lot, he’s learned his lesson now.”

Discussing his collaboration with Brown on his new album “Nelly 5.0,” he said: “He’s such a talented kid, such a great singer and I always knew that would prevail.”
