*Recently, gospel’s premiere choir event in Los Angeles went down at the Staples Center during the Verizon Wireless “How Sweet The Sound” 2010 competition.

Choir prepares for the competition

On Monday, Oct. 11, 2010 eight choirs from the L.A. region competed in four main categories, including overall winner, large and small voices regional winners, Verizon’s V Cast People’s Choice Award Winner and the Hopeline winner, a charity-based award rewarding one of the choirs for donating phones.

The winners – The Voices of Destiny Church Choir in Compton (People’s choice and overall winner), The Voices of Destiny Church Choir in Compton (small voices), Valley Crossroads Chorale from Pacoima (the Hopeline winner) – go on to compete in the grand national finale on November 13th in Washington D.C.

The program included judges gospel artists Marvin Sapp, Grammy-award singer Hezekiah Walker and Kelly Price while the hosts included another Grammy-award gospel singer Cece Winans and Donald Lawrence. Of course, performances and fellowship came from not only the choirs but also the judges and hosts. More photos are below.
