Ursh on Mom’s Wedding Snub: ‘I Wouldn’t Do That to My Child’

*Usher and his mother are back on good terms, but he still wishes she hadn’t deliberately stayed away from his wedding three years ago.

Even though he divorced his former stylist Tameka Foster two years later, the 32-year-old tells October/November Vibe magazine he was “very disappointed” that his mother decided not to watch him exchange vows.

Usher, whose mother used to manage him, says he “wouldn’t do that to my child.” The singer says “parents should be able to have unconditional love for their children and their decisions, regardless of how they feel.”

Usher and Foster have 2-year-old and 1-year-old sons.

The October/November issue of Vibe hits newsstands Oct. 12.

Usher is still salty about his mother snubbing his nuptials? Usher your mother had a good reason to not attend, she did not like how it all went down from the get go and how Usher handled it. Anyway, that is water under the bridge so i am glad he and his mother patched things up. Family should stick together no matter what.

I don’t agree babycakes, I’d go, even though it could make my arthritis flare…my 5’7″ daughter has been dating a barely 5′ Guatemalan troll and have resigned myself to the fact that after 3+yrs of dating, they may jump-the-broom, his parents look like salt-n-pepper shakers!…DID I add he treats her like a queen?…so far..

    • If he treats her like a queen, what’s the problem? I’m with you though, the only things I think that could make me not attend my daughters weddings if it involved abuse (in which case the guy probably would be alive for the wedding) or if one of them did something like marry a prison inmate.

So Usher thinks that his mom should have attended what she obviously thought was a huge mistake that he was about to make? Was this before or after he fired her? Just because she disagreed and chose not to attend doesn’t mean that she didn’t love him. Unconditional love doesn’t mean unconditional acceptance of bad (in her mind) decisions.

He needs to mad at himself for having that sham of a wedding anyway. His mother could see right through Tameka and her motives and no one wants to see their child walk into something that is doomed from the start. Him trying to prove something by marrying an older woman who he started dealing with when she was married plus she had 3 kids by her husband. What did he honestly expect to gain? You never saw Usher and Tameka with her 3 kids. It was only just the two they had…which leads me to believe Usher is one flame away from a candle!

There was a reason why his moms didn’t go SHE SAW RIGHT THROUGH TAMEKA!! Turns out she was right, right?? Jus’ sayin’.
