*Angela Bassett is back in action and ready to put on her womanly swag in the upcoming film Will Smith-produced film “This Means War.”

The actress joins Chris Pine, Tom Hardy, and Reese Witherspoon in the drama, which focuses on two best friends who both are international spies. However, when they both fall in love with the same woman, they declare war on each other.

Bassett will play the boss of Pine and Hardy’s characters, a woman who has dedicated her life to the spy business and has no life outside the CIA.

The film will be directed by McG, but the producers behind the action/romantic comedy are Will Smith, James Lassiter, Robert Simonds, Witherspoon and Simon Kinberg, states Variety.

As previously reported, Bassett has also joined the ABC pilot “One Police Plaza,” where she will play the nation’s first female police commissioner in New York City. She will also be appearing in the upcoming wedding comedy “Jumping the Broom” in 2011 and in the on screen version of the Marvell character, “Green Lantern” opening June 17.
