*The Disney Channel has ordered a live-action comedy series titled A.N.T. Farm starring China McClain, best known for her role as Jazmine Payne in Tyler Perry’s “House of Payne” and as China in “Daddy’s Little Girls.”
McClain will play Chyna Sparks, a middle school music prodigy who gets into a special high school program. The series will begin production in early 2011.
Also a singer and guitar player [listen to clips below], McClain is featured on the “JONAS L.A.” soundtrack singing “Your Biggest Fan” with The Jonas Brothers.
McClain has also appeared in a season 3 episode of “Hannah Montana” called “Welcome to the Bungle.” In 2010, she appeared in the movie “Grown Ups” as Charlotte McKenzie.
Cool! We need another family-friendly show with a black girl in the lead. I’m not sure if we’ve had one since Raven had to finally graduate from high school.
