*For the second time in Oprah show history, every member of her studio audience received a brand new car.
On day two of her two-part “Oprah’s Favorite Things” promotion, which aired Monday, Winfrey announced that her final giveaway is a 2012 Volkswagen Beetle to all 275 members of her audience.
The car was revealed in silhouette because its official debut won’t be until spring 2011. Pricing for the car has also not been announced. VW said the vehicle is scheduled to go on sale the following fall.
Winfrey owns and drives a New Beetle and approached the automaker to arrange giving away the cars on her show, VW said in an announcement.
Volkswagen donated all the cars, plus money to cover taxes and fees for all of the audience members, the automaker said.
In 2004, Winfrey gave 276 Pontiac G6 cars to her audience. That time audience members were able to go out to the parking lot and inspect their cars immediately.

WOW! I did not see the show but that was extremely gracious of Oprah. Go ahead Ms Oprah. Her last season is a good one so far. I cannot wait to see what she has in store for the remaining months.
The car she had on the show was the reddest (if that’s a word) car I had every seen. It was beautiful.
I’m really lucky to read your post. This piece of info really courage me. Thanks ^o^

Yeah… I think I grew ill as I watched the show myself. Lady O gave away diamond earrings, expensive Nikon ameras, diamond watches, 5 year subscriptions to Netflix, $1000 gift cards to some (I can’t remember the name right now) upscale department to buy bras and other undergarments, an Ipad, a Sony 52inch 3D flat screen TV, tons of clothes from signature designers (Ralph Lauren, Coach, etc) made of cashmere and silk, books, food, a cruise on the world’s largest cruise ship, airplane flights, CDs, cooking utensils, designer hand bags, candles, perfumes and the list goes on. They had paramedics on standby just in case people became too excited. Truth told, I needed a paramedic after watching… lol It was really exciting to see, gawk and ultimately feel forsakened by the great philantropic Oprah Winfrey. Clearly she refuses to be outdone!
MrU, a friend called me in a frenzy screaming if I see all that Lady O is giving away. The upscale department store you mention is Nordstrom’s. That show is making folks foam at the mouth wishing they were there for that particular one.
They sho gon’ miss her once this victory lap season ends. Love her to death!!!!
Dang! I Tivo all of my AUNTIE O’s (cuz I wish she was my Aunt…or related to me in SOME way
) shows and deleted the first episode because I thought it was one of her BORING shows about dumb sh!t. But I haven’t looked at Part 2 and probably would have delete that one as well until I saw this article. And I wanted to try to get tickets to one of her final season’s shows, but I’m SURE that’s out of the question now! I’m kinda glad I didn’t watch Part 1…I probably would have needed a paramedic, too! Nordstrom is my favorite department store in the whole wide world!
I sure wished I was on there. :-$
