The Game: BET Denies Paying White Star More than Rest of Cast

*BET has responded to sudden internet rumors that a white actress in its predominantly-black cast of “The Game” is being paid twice as much as the rest of the cast.

The Internet mess-starter, MediaTakeOut.com, said that Brittany Daniel, who plays Kelly Pitts on the resurrected series from the CW, was being paid twice as much as the rest of the cast.  BET denies this in the following statement:

The recent report regarding certain members of the cast of “The Game” being disproportionally paid by BET is completely false.  As a matter of policy, BET does not engage in public discussions about salaries or similar private matters with its artists.   However, out of our deep respect and appreciation for the talent and hard work of the entire cast and crew of “The Game,” we cannot allow such inaccurate reports to go uncorrected. To be clear, there is no disparity in salaries among the cast of “The Game.”  We continue to look forward to bringing new episodes to the loyal fans of this series on 1/11/11.

  4. Well, it’s yt owned, so this should not be that much of a shock.

“To be clear, there is no disparity in salaries among the cast of “The Game.”
There should be reason for suspicion from that statement, since we know no two cast members are paid the same.

  5. It was said also said on another blog site that she was up for another show from a different network and BET countered-offered to keep her. That could be true and the reason why her colleagues on the show were upset.

Based on her past experience and past pay scale, she may have been and may continue to be paid more than other cast members. We know none of the other cast members were commanding major studio dollars on any of their previous gigs. Sounds like something started by a disgruntled cast member that thought them being picked up by BET would get them more money than they’d normally get. You’d be surprised how many people that work in the business that don’t know the business. Get thee some education!

  7. There is probably some grain of truth to the rumor and she probably was paid more when the series was on the CW. anyway, I hope they straighten it out and make it fair to the rest of the cast. Pay the black actors /actresses whta they are worth, they all hapen to be very good actors. I agree with Dawn bring on the show already Dang! lol
