*Folks are still buzzing about Rihanna’s rather…provocative…performance of her new song “What’s My Name” on “Saturday Night Live” over the weekend. Let’s just say the singer’s pelvic movements reinforce the theme of the song, which includes a chorus that asks a boy if he can “go downtown.” [Watch below.]
The “SNL” episode’s digital short was pretty memorable as well. Rihanna returns for a music video with “Shy Ronnie,” a rapper played by Andy Samberg who is supposed to be in a duet with the singer, but is so shy that you can barely hear him. In Saturday’s clip, the two are trying to rob a bank. [Watch below.]
In other RiRi news, she and Eminem will follow their Hot 100-topping single “Love The Way You Lie” with a sequel set to appear on Rihanna’s upcoming album “Loud.” The singer admitted that she was “completely against” the idea of recording “Part II,” but fell in love with a stripped-down version of the song that was eventually expanded into a full sequel. Rihanna adds that Eminem’s verse on the track is about trading punches with a girl and is “crazy.” [Watch original video below.]

I just don’t get her. Of course, her voice is definitely an acquired taste. She is pretty and all but there is just something missing. A different voice for a different generation.
I really dont get her either. Yes she is very cute and all BUT I must be honest- I dont think a dark skinned Caribbean girl would have had the same chance at success(marketed the same way) as Rihanna.
And as for pelvic movements she cant compete wit Patra from back in the day LOL
I see you have noticed it too, Yes certain female artists are promoted and hyped more than others regardless of talent and it is all bout the LOOK/IMAGE Sex sells at the expense of actual talent.
You said it, Lorraine. I was thinking the same thing about Rih after seeing her on SNL. A darker-skinned island girl wouldn’t have gotten the same shine as Rihanna does now — that’s just the way it is.
But Rih was working those hips though. Chris Brown must kick himself every day–
Rihanna being provocative in a live performance and video is nothing new. When you don’t have good vocals then you use whatever else to get by. LOL Pretty young woman BUT! no stage presence at all.
she seems kinda loopy to me, kinda chick that if u tried to hold any kinda compelling discourse with her it would go like, “so,rhianna, what are your feelings on the independents and the tea party?” she woulda say “oh im very independent. and yes, i like to go to tea parties”
huey > > I agree with you so much on your post. Rihanna is pretty no doubt, but I think she’s as dumb as a doornail.
i saw SNL Saturday im still tryin to figure out who and what she is trying to market too ??? if its teenage boys .. she has accomplished what she set out to do ???
Meh. The performance was mediocre. Shy Ronny was funny.
Not surprised at this untalented twit. She gave us nothing artistic but all sex. Her backup singers look like they want to drag her out back and shoot her. Her voice has so much auto-tune on it I’d be embarassed if I were her and just pull an Ashley Simpson. Even the Shy Ronnie skit is drenched in auto-tune. I could never spend money on this untalented copycat.
well, I’ll jump on…I wouldn’t even call her cute but, like someone said “that’s another generation”. Kaye, is that what that noise is? She sounds like she singing through a tracheotomy hole.
