*We recently reported that Hip-Hop pioneer, Doug E. Fresh that he was doing some big things and opened up a club and restaurant. But in the midst of all of his success, the rapper owes over $2 million in taxes. YIKES!
The IRS filed a lien against him with the New York City register’s office in October for his $2,276, 848 debt, according to a report in the Detroit News.
This isn’t the first time Uncle Sam knocked on his door. In 2008, he owed $367,000 in taxes. Despite his tax troubles, he continued with his business ventures and opened up his eatery in Harlem.
“Really even in this whole Obama initiative, and everything that’s going on with the economy, the only way to jump start it is we have to give each other opportunity. That’s the only way to make it work,” he said of the restaurant. His objective with the spot has always been to provide after-school job opportunities for teens in the neighborhood. “I understand the kid that, you know, he needs some money because he gotta get back and forth to school.”

I don’t understand how celebs get so far behind in taxes. Do they not know they aren’t being paid or do they just say eff it? Are they really putting all of their money in someone else’s hands to the point that they don’t know that taxes aren’t being paid? I truly don’t get it.
Him too! Wow! Some of these celebs just don’t handle their finances correctly…SMH!
No one is immune from the IRS!
I’ve always liked him. Dougie handle this matter now before it goes out of control any further. Workout a payment plan or something.
workout a payment plan, file bankruptcy etc- my point was… DO SOMETHING. otherwise, if he does NOTHING, he’ll end up in jail too like his cousin Wesley
Not true…I’m on an installment plan with the IRS and state of California. For the record, I’ve always filed my income taxes…One particular year, I just owed more than I could afford to pay back.
While the penalties and interest are NO joke, my monthly statement shows the balance going down.
On another note, the IRS doesn’t let you stay on an installment plan indefinitely. You have to ‘negotiate’ a monthly amount that is acceptable to the IRS that will enable you to pay off your debt in five years. I’m on schedule to do just that.
Have you all noticed the theme here? All these “black males” owing the IRS, I find it strange that there are no white celebs in the news. Hmmm are they targeting black men who are celebrities? I think so!
please don’t use that argument when the shyt hits the fan with mega ministers Eddie Long and Creflo $. all of the other ministers under investigation turned over some info (jury out on whether it was complete or not). the two black ones– Ms Eddie and Creflo refused. so when they get targeted by the IRS soon, please dont say it’s because they’re black.
