*The 20-year-old son of former NBA guard Nick Van Exel confessed to murder on Wednesday night, according to WFAA.com.
According to the Dallas Morning News, Nickey Van Exel was the neighbor of Bradley Bassey Eyo, who was found shot to death the day after Christmas. Nickey Van Exel is being held on $1 million bond after turning himself in on Wednesday and confessing to the crime.
Eyo’s body was discovered near Lake Ray Hubbard on Sunday. Investigators learned Eyo had been killed at a home in the 6900 block of George Brown Drive in Garland and his body later dumped less than a mile away at the lake.
The elder Van Exel is in his first year as an assistant coach for the Atlanta Hawks, where he is a player development instructor. During his NBA career, he played for the Lakers, Nuggets, Mavericks, Spurs, Blazers and Warriors.
