Kanye West Closes Fatburger in Chicago

*It’s a sad sad day for Kanye West and Chicago because the rapper’s entrepreneurial touch is fizzing out. Fatburger, a chain restaurant opened by Kanye two years ago, is closing its doors.

Back in 2008, he successfully opened up 10 of the California based restaurants under KW Foods, LLC all over Chicago. But a location in Orland Park is being closed down.

“It’s unfortunate, but we hope to have a presence in Orland Park again in the future,” James Newell, Fatburger’s director of operations stated. Newell cited the store’s financial performance as the reason for its doors being shut.

Overall, however, his rap career is doing just fine, his latest album selling nearly 500,000 in the first week. Keep a look out for the sixth album this summer.

Hey Kanye, here’s a tip. When it comes to burgers, you can’t go wrong with In-in-Out.

  1. I wish these damn rapper/singer(s) just stick to music. Do they know their fans are affected by this failing economy and we may only listen to their music, not buy their clothes, eat at their restaurants or wear their perfume/cologne. The worse the economy get, the more ideas they come up with to get our money. GIVE BACK!!!!

Why should he limit his vision to just rapping. He is a producer, lyrisist and business man. What a foolish notion. Nobody told Ford or GM to stop with just one model car. Your kind of thinking would have kept Teddy Pendergrass as the drummer in the band backing Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes.

By the way, Tinely Park is a village of about 60,000 and it is about 25 miles southwest of Chicago. He has another location in Chicago that is still open in the Bevery Hills neighborhood. I’m not sure if he ever opened the other 8 that he holds the franchise rights on.

  2. Your post makes little to no sense Williena and I’m not beefing with you. Anyway, “give back”? Kanye has done that plus some. Don’t you remember what he did for the Katrina victims/Flood victims in Asia/Haiti? Kanye is one of the few rap artists who actually do something GOOD for others and urban communities. Why are you mad?

  3. It was all a matter of the business going downhill due to the economy. When its time to close, its time to close. He made the right decision. Kanye has a lot of different ventures so he is making money all over the place. At least he did invest in his community and provided jobs to people.
