*An item in the fake news site Weekly World News set in motion a cycle of false reports that had Michelle Obama pregnant with her third child.

“There was a great deal of mystery about the whereabouts of the President and First Lady on Election Night this year,” the WWN wrote. “There were many rumors about where they might be —  but now we know.  The happy couple was spending quality time together, making a new baby.”

The WWN piece, which came out Sunday, even “quoted” White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs as confirming — out of Oahu, where the Obamas are vacationing — that the pregnancy is two months along.

“Michelle Obama is pregnant… She’s about two months into her pregnancy and the President and First Lady expect to have the baby sometime in late July, 2011,” the paper “quoted: Gibbs as saying.

The fact is – Gibbs never said any of those things and the rumor is completely false.

The rumor appeared to have been rooted in a Toronto Sun piece in which a psychic predicted FLOTUS would get pregnant.

Oddly, the president made no mention of the “pregnancy” in his weekly address.
