*When Piers Morgan takes over for Larry King on CNN this month, his first guest will be none other than Oprah Winfrey.
The British broadcaster, whose “Piers Morgan Tonight” debuts on Jan. 17 at 9 p.m., just broke the news to reporters at the Television Critics Association Press Tour in Pasadena.
When asked if Howard Stern was rumored to be his first guest, he responded with a video segment that showed Piers and Oprah together in a brief promo.
When asked by another reporter if Oprah is a bit overexposed at the moment, Morgan responded: “The idea that you can say Oprah is not a great get for a first interview is ridiculous. She’s the top one or two gets in the world – especially now that she’s got her own network, the biggest gamble of her career, as she told to me.”
Morgan said he interviewed the talk show queen-turned cable network mogul last night.
“After 45 minutes we were supposed to end. An hour went by and we were still at it because she was obviously enjoying it. We just had a connection,” he said.
