I am truly humbled by his journey, his passion, and his sacrifice. That same sentiment can be attributed to the nameless others who’ve endured the inhumaniity of man. Just know that while the LANDSCAPE may look different in 2011 (black president, no longer sitting on the back of buses, etc.) it is still FERTILIZED by the same hatred. Instead of a rope, we are being lynched by the likes of Fox News whose racist rants against our president are as blatantly disrepectful. Instead of being confined to a plantation and emasculated, our young men are confined to a prison cell and r.aped. Instead of being called n***** by klansmen, we’ve embraced it as a term of endearment amongst ourselves. Instead of massa violating our women and abandoning them to raise their offspring as bastards, our men are doing it themselves. Instead of being forced to stand in front of a crowd bucked naked to be auctioned off to the highest bidder, our women do it freely in rap videos or on an episode of Flava of Love.
See, the landscape is such that it is no longer just the white man’s hate that is keeping us down— SELF hate has helped to perpetuate that cycle. And you know what, we’ve got to do better.

King was a spiritual man who was not afraid to die. Now in 2011 are people afraid of truth? Be honest, who are these people saying peace and safety in these perilous times. Flattery is making money off lies and it’s called prosperity. As a nation of people, concerned with an image, we have become proud of our heritage. We all know the two greatest commandments but no man speaks on the number 1 thing God hates? Our pride, and God will resists you but still give you blessings in his tender mercies.
