*Last night before the State of the Union address, “World News Tonight” with Diane Sawyer ran a piece about the 40th anniversary of a groundbreaking runway show in France that not only blindsided the audience with shock and dismay, but rocked the fashion industry at large.
The big deal? The models were all African American – a first.
All eight of the ladies — including Norma Jean Darden, Pat Cleveland and actor Kadeem Hardison’s mom Bethann Hardison — reunited recently at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York to mark the occasion.
“I walked with spirit. I really walked from inside,” Hardison said of that historic night. “I walked like I defied the French. I walked like they are going down.”
