*Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson is set to produce and star in the cop film “Freelancers,” under “Soul Plane” director Jessy Terrero, reports Variety.
Jackson play the son of a slain NYPD officer who joins the force and is welcomed by his father’s former partner into the ranks of his vice crime task force – and eventually on to a team of rogue cops.
Filming begins March 28 in Grand Rapids, Mich. Cheetah Vision’s Randall Emmett and Jackson will produce, alongside George Furla of Hedge Fund Films and EFF.
“Freelancers” is the second film in Cheetah Films’ 10-picture deal announced last fall. The pact is backed by a $200 million fund with Lionsgate releasing the films domestically. “Setup,” the first title under the deal, recently completed principal photography with Jackson, Bruce Willis and Ryan Phillippe starring.
