*Maybe there had been too much Blake Griffin idolatry in L.A. recently. Or maybe too much Laker-bashing.

Or maybe it was just that Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant was feeling it on his home court.

Whatever the case, Bryant scored early and often, finishing the NBA All-Star Game with a game-high 37 points and winning MVP honors in leading the West to a 148-143 victory Sunday at Staples Center.

Bryant topped his previous All-Star high of 31 point set in the 2002 and 2007 games. He also tied Hall of Famer Bob Pettit by winning his fourth All-Star MVP.

Bryant has 244 points in All-Star games, fourth to Michael Jordan (262), Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (251) and Oscar Robertson (246).
