*A devoted wife sticks by her man through thick and thin, through trials and tribulations, through presidencies and re-election. First Lady Michelle Obama is dusting off her campaign boots and is gearing up for the 2012 presidential race. She’s a fighting woman.

“Whenever it’s time to campaign, and they tap me on the shoulder, I’ll be right there. But until then, we’ve got some great initiatives,” she said in an interview on ABC’s Good Morning America. “I am excited about what we are going to be doing with military families in the coming year,” she said. “We’ve got a lot of work to do and I’m rolling up my sleeves to get that work done and we’ll cross that other bridge when we get there.”

The couple’s focus for the coming weeks is on families and nutrition on military bases. While Mrs. Obama’s push for a healthier America has been overall a success, she is going hard in the paint against obesity as the 2012 approaches.

“Young recruits are coming in with higher percentages of stress fractures because they’re not used to moving around. They’re coming in unable to train because they’re either overweight or some are even malnourished and it’s costing this nation a lot of money for all this retraining that they have to do,” she said. “They may never be battle ready.”

She had plenty more to say on getting better food in grocery stores, giving Americans an equal opportunity and access to a healthier lifestyle, and sticking together despite the current economic hardship families are currently enduring.
