*Russell Simmons is on a mission right now to get the folks who defamed his clothing label, Phat Farm.
Phat Farm is suing a Florida based T-shirt company Phag Farm for $7 million for infringement on the brand’s name.
In 2008, Lisa Wright, the owner of Phag Farm, attempted to trademark the name, but counsel for Phat Fashions fired off a cease-and-desist letter warning her of the infringement.
Phag Farm launched earlier this month and started selling “merchandise at virtually identical price points to the apparel items sold by Phat Fashions.”
Phagfarm is exactly what is sounds like. It’s a clothing label targeting gay customers, but the uproar is all about how customers can get confused when seeking out Phatfarm.
Simmons’ clothing line is not only suing for trademark infringement, unfair competition and dilutions of the Phat Farm brand.
