*Celebs from the world of music, film and television attended the Third Annual Valentine Romance “Sneak Peek” Oscar Suite, held recently at Café La Boheme.

They all came to eat, drink, schmooze and get showered with gifts ranging from Coleman Luggage®, to Twisted Silver® jewelry to footwear, designer purses, calendar charms by Not Just Any Old Day®, baked goods, fashionable knit wraps and more.

Some of the celebs on hand included Vivica A. Fox, Kym Whitley, Rolonda Watts, Kevin Eubanks, Mischa Barton, Billy Zane, Gram’ma Funk, ‘Dancing With the Stars’ dancers Anna Trebunskaya and Edyta Sliwinska, Chris McDonald, Marilu Henner, James Kyson Lee, Oscar Nunez, Scott Baio, Carrie Keagan, Kevin Rahm, Sofia Milos and more.

One of the vendors on hand was Rubina, a cake designer who showcased various flavors offered through Rubina’s Cake Shoppe.

“I came up with all of the recipes myself,” said Rubina, whose company is only one year old. “All of the cakes are from scratch. I love to bake and decorate and experiment with the recipes.”

A former engineer, Rubina said she quit her job and decided to go after her passion, which is baking.

Actress Vivica A. Fox, who is getting married later this year, was so taken by the taste of Rubina’s cakes she said she is ‘considering’ using the company to design and make her wedding cake.

“Those cakes are so good,” said Fox.  “I’m glad I came. I may have just found someone to do my wedding cake. That would be one major thing I could stop thinking about. This is a fabulous event.”

Kym Whitley strkes a pose with her gift bag

Tote bag designer Lisa Murphy was on hand with several samples from her Emilie Sloan brand, a waterproof bag line named after her two daughters.

The tote line, which Murphy started three years ago, is now in more than 1,000 stores, including Nordstrom’s. Murphy who was previously a real estate agent, first designed a tote for her personal use at the grocery store.

“Women started asking me about the bag,” remembers Murphy, who is from Seattle. “So I decided to design a variety of bags using fabric that is durable. I put a lot of design and thought into everything. This line is my baby.”

A major hit amongst attendees was footwear by chung shi®. Singer Gram’ma Funk was literally kickin it while singing the praises of the shoes.

“These shoes are something else,” said Gram’ma Funk as she mimicked walking the runway. “The design is fabulous, they feel good and they look good on my feet.”

The gifting was so nice Rolonda Watts did it twice!

A hit with the female crowd was The CardiWrap by Kymaro®, which both Rolonda Watts and Kym Whitley said they could make great use of.

“I like it because you can wear it so many ways,” said Watts. “I’m about to travel and I just like to be cozy and cover up. I love how it comes with its own little kit. I’m going to get a lot of wear out of it.  It’s all about comfort clothes.”

“This is really a nice wrap,” said Whitley. “It’s really pretty, it feels good and it looks comfortable. You can’t go wrong with something like this. You can work this wrap anyway you need to. I can work this.”

Whitley said the Valentine Romance “Sneak Peek” Oscar Suite is an event she looks forward to every year.

“This is a very cool event,” she said. “I always like coming here because you’re going to see something new. You’re going to find something you can use. Here, you can always find something different because the items are unique.”
