*Just like the headline says, this page/board is where you can discuss the stuff that we didn’t cover in today’s issue. (It’s sort of like feedback with a twist) Remember, NO name calling, racial taunting, graphic sex talk and vulgarity in general, PLEASE.

I really don’t like Martin Lawrence’s comment on a TVOne commercial – he’s being interviewed by Cathy Hughes and she asks him about Black actors wearing dresses and he says “If people saw the paychecks they would shut up complaining about it.” So does that mean that they can pay him to do ANYTHING?
Jazz, my hubby said the same thing.
Michael Duncan played an ape in the Planet of the Apes. According to Steve Harvey (stand up comedy), he was paid 10 million for that role.
Morning.
Yes it does Jazz. There are a lot of people who have their price. I don’t watch or like movies like big mommas house or anything Madea because I am not a fan of or amused by chitlin circuit entertainment. However I don’t begrudge people who do.
Martin, Tyler Perry, Flip Wilson and their fans don’t have a problem with it so what can you do. Everyone doesnt have the dame level of conciousness. It’s called choices and everyone has the right to them.
Good morning family. What it do?
Good morning, it’s been a while. I’m visiting EUR less and less these days. I’m not a Tyler Perry nor Martin Lawerance fan, but loved Flip Wilson. However I think the entire thing about black actors wearing dresses is a non-issue. We are only talking about 2 or 3 actors; it’s not like every other movie we see has a black man in a dress. How was Big Mamas House any different from Mrs. Doubtfire? How was Flip Wilson any different from Milton Berle? Check out any foreign language TV station and you will find the same. It seems that almost every culture finds comedy in men dressing as women.
You hit the nail on the head with this one
Good Morning Family!!
Done that is what I was trying to portray but you did so eloquently.
I too liked flip Wildon. I included him on the list to illustrate that this is not a new phenomena.
Good Moring lilmoc. Thanks Juice. Is it the weather that has people away from F4A board or has EUR been messing up again lately? Looks like they are still tweaking with the site.
DOne I think it is a combo of both.
I agree 100%. The black actors NOT wearing dresses far exceed the 2 or 3 that sometimes don dresses for comedic relief. Men have been wearing dresses as actors since the time of Shakespeare when all parts were played by men. Why is it coonery if a black actor does it? What was it when Robin Williams or Milton Berle did it? Or Bob Hope? I’m not a fan of Big Mama but not because of the dress. It’s acting. Some of the same folks that have a problem with Big Mama are the same ones that loved the stereotypical buffoonery displayed on Martin. Different strokes for different folks. Run tell dat all the way to the bank Marty Mart.
Has anyone watched the Way Black When on TV1? How is it? I caught the end of a show a couple of days ago when Denise Williams performing. She looked and sounded good.
I couldn’t believe it was her. She was looking “real” good and sounded even better.
Way Black When has been pretty good. Sinbad had J Anthony Brown on and he had this big afro. They whole week was very good and informative. Evelyn Champaign King was performing last night.
Thanks I’ll be sure to catch the reruns; which I’m sure there will be plenty.
Good Day Good People!!
Hey folks… I agree wholeheartedly with cuzzin… It’s moreso the ACTING that turns me off from Big Momma. Shirley Hemphill could have protrayed her and it still would have been unfunny. Martin, in general, is unfunny to me. BUT, just like what has been stated, to each his/her own.
DOne… the snow really isn’t a factor in the amount of participation on this board as it has been whack for the past couple of seasons. People are just plain tired of getting kicked out randomly, getting viruses, and the layout.
I know the constant refreshes gets on my nerves. I’ll see a headline posted come back later to read it, but have to search for it because they would have added 5 new ones.
Good day everyone. Hope you have had a great week. I’m sad it’s my last week away from work. I now remember why I never stay away too long. When I do, by the time I need to go back I don’t feel like it anymore. Have a beautiful weekend.
*posting so King won’t be the last post*
I don’t find Martin funny… but clearly others do. To each his own. I did find Nutty Professor funny and almost genius to be able to perform all those characters. But I’ve always found Eddie Murphy more funny than Martin could ever be. Again, to each his own. I didn’t see Yogi Bear (smh), I won’t be seeing BM 1, 2, or 3 through 10.
I like both Martin and Eddie’s stand up. Eddie’s older movies are funnier than his newer ones. Everything since the 1st Nutty Professor has stunk IMO.
Good afternoon all! Just peeking in. Hope everyone’s doing well. As for Big Momma’s House, the 1st one was okay, but 2 & 3 are very unnecessary. I wouldn’t go see that crap if I had a free pass! In other news, today we find out if J was accepted into the private school that we’ve been stalking for the past 5 years. I’m pretty confident that he’s in there, just waiting to hear confirmation:-) And after confirmation, waiting on fin. aid! Umm, me no likey the new format.
I miss the emoticons & thumbs up & down. What the hell is the TDB supposed to do with his/her pitiful life???
P.S. Dang, and we can’t edit either? This SUCKS ROTTEN EGGS!
HK,finally, someone who doesnt think Martin is funny. He appeared at a local comedy club a few years back, and he was so derogatory towards women, that people got up and left, and he tried to call folks out about it, and then made fun of them. Half the audience left. Martin is not funny, but his sctick is to play women. Now he has recruited a young actor for it. While I hope they draw the line at what they wont do, obviously putting on a dress isnt a line he wont cross. Him, Flip and Tyler have made a ton of money off it though…
Beverly Johnson is on O…she looks fabulous!
