Video: Whoopi Apologizes to NY Times for ‘Sloppy Journalism’ Remark

*Whoopi Goldberg apologized to the New York Times this morning for calling an article in the paper — which talked about African Americans who have won Oscars but did not mention her — “sloppy journalism.”

The article discussed the lack of black nominees in this year’s Oscars, but did not reference Goldberg’s 1990 win for Ghost.

The Times responded, saying that the article was not meant to be comprehensive, but rather to note the seeming step back the Oscars have taken since 2002, when Halle Berry and Denzel Washington both won awards.

Today, Goldberg told the “View” audience:

“I said that I felt the reporting was shoddy and for that I’m going to apologize, OK? I personally found the article really confusing, and as I said, I was also quite hurt that Cuba Gooding Jr., Louis Gossett Jr., and myself were not included in this expose about black Hollywood. But for saying it was shoddy reporting, I apologize, New York Times.”

  1. wonder how that ego tastes? Love ya whoopie

  2. love4parris says:

Eating Crow is never a good taste. But she shouldn’t have let BahBah Wahwah egg her on about the article. I watch this show, & they (the women of the View) were so wrapped up in this frenzy about Whoopie not being mention, that they missed the whole purpose of the story…

The NY Time was right on the money about how Hollywood has overlooked and ignored outstanding performances by Black actors.

    But what else is new?????

  3. Whoopi should demand an apology from Barbara Walters and her shoddy View staff who wanted her to respond to a none issue.

  4. will all of the few remaining REAL men and women please stand up!!!! dayum, if u gonna say something own that sh*t! i detest backpedaling.
