*Robbery could have been a motive in the fatal attack on a Baptist church pastor and the severe beating of his assistant, Arlington, Texas police said Friday.

Items were missing from the North Arlington church where the two were found last Thursday afternoon, police spokeswoman Tiara Richard said during a news conference. She said that there were no signs of forced entry.

The Rev. Clint Dobson (pictured), 28, a Baylor University graduate, was physically assaulted, Richard said. The cause of his death has not been released.

Also Friday, the Rev. Dennis Wiles, pastor of First Baptist Church in Arlington, said that Dobson’s assistant, Judy Elliott, was “doing some better” and was in stable condition. Elliott has been described as in her 60s.

Wiles said he had no information about what happened to the two inside NorthPointe Baptist Church but said Dobson was “probably preparing for his sermon.”
