*Administrators of Rick James’ estate are suing Universal Music executives over increased royalties for digital downloads.

Reps for the late funk legend have filed a class action lawsuit against Universal, claiming the estate is owed 50 per cent from digital sales of Rick’s singles, albums and the use of his music for cell phone ringtones, reports RollingStone.com.

The suit comes in the wake of rapper Eminem’s court victory against Universal, which set a legal precedent entitling copyright holders to half of the revenue of digital sales.

James died in 2004 from pulmonary and cardiac failure.
