Tom Joyner, Dr. Condoleezza Rice and others attend a post-tornado press conference at the Scoot School in Pratt City.

*In response to the tornado struck areas in Alabama, The Tom Joyner Morning Show joined in the recovery efforts and aired a special broadcast this morning from 98.7 Kiss-FM studios in Birmingham.

In addition to the live broadcast, the show has reinstated the BlackAmericaWeb.com Disaster Relief Fund, which has already begun accepting donations to assist with needs of the community in the areas affected the most by the storms.

“Whenever there’s a disaster that has an impact on our audience, directly or indirectly, they immediately look to us to help them,” says Joyner.  “They trust us with donations and we deliver what we promise.  This time I’m going to my home state of Alabama where we’ll even be making some of our deliveries in person.”

Tom Joyner takes part in discussion with Rickey Smiley, Birmingham Mayor William A. Bell and Dr. Condoleezza Rice.

Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, a fellow Alabama native, was also on hand, as well as comedian Ricky Smiley and the Birmingham Mayor William A. Bell.

TJMS Listeners are asked to go to BlackAmericaWeb.com (http://blackamericaweb.com) to make a donation and for more information on what Joyner and the crew are doing to help.

All week, Kiss FM will be collecting bottled water and personal care kits, including basic toiletry items.  The station has set up collections points around the city at participating Walmart locations as well the Boutwell Auditorium.  For more information on donation items and collection points, listeners can go to www.987kiss.com.
