*While appearing on “The Mo’Nique Show” last week, Tyler Perry was invited by the host to return for a sit down with his biggest critic, Spike Lee.
The star and director of “Madea’s Big Happy Family” was discussing the verbal attacks that have been going back and forth between the two African American filmmakers – a beef he has compared to Langston Hughes’s criticism of contemporary Zora Neale Husrton.
“He’s a brilliant filmmaker. There’s a lot of things that he could share with me, but for some reason we don’t do that,” Perry said on the show.
“Instead of taking shots and tearing each other down, why don’t you give me a hand, brother?” Perry continued. “Tell me what I need to know. And maybe I can show you some things too.”
That’s when Mo’Nique offered up her show as a place to settle their differences.
“Would you be willing, if brother Spike Lee is willing, to come on ‘The Mo’Nique Show’ and y’all have this conversation face to face?”
“Let’s make it happen,” Perry replied.
Mo’Nique then turned to speak into the camera: “Brother Spike, you have an open invitation to come and sit with brother Tyler Perry. So that way y’all can show the world at large how we can come together. Because we still are in the land of divide and conquer.”

So Miss Piggy is using her ghetto show to broker peace between Ma Dukes and the little man.
This is like a traveling cirucs. And TP sound like a crying 12 yr old girl.
Wow… JBFromptown, it’s amazing how you can read this story and NOT see the good in what’s trying to be done here. Tyler Perry just acknowledged he can stand to learn a few things from Spike and wish he had come to him first and “tell him what he needs to know” – if that ain’t humility in action then I don’t know what it. At the end of the day these brothers need to be working together as a team or individually – not fighting each other. Way to go, Monique. I pray this happens!
TP definitely humbled himself. Hopefully Spike will respond in kind. Enough is enough.
He’s not humble in the least. Publicity stunt.
That poster can’t see it, because they don’t have that kind of vision to SEE….
Spike said this 2 years ago. TP said this a couple days before his movie came out..
Unfortunately the reporters are bringing up this old news (of course they love celebrity beefs). Now it’s up to TP to put it to bed and stop responding to it.
I think you need to go on back to Ptown
that very “Gaytown” on CapeCod.For those of you who don’t know,Ptown is short for Providence Town in Massachusets. This person is a “Homo”,that’s why he keeps harping on Tyler’s sexuality. So he either wants TP or he’s been rejected by him.Now
I see why all of the nasty comments.
Wrong City Wrong state.
Get off your knees for TP. I just don’t like his works.
Tyler, grow a pair. You had no issue speaking ill against comments Spike made 2 years ago. Of course, your movie was due out so you had to get your name out there.
If you were really interested in learning something from Spike, I can’t imagine he would turn you down.
Thank you bro.
The same way Spike can bring up Tyler out of the blue, Tyler can do it too. The only difference is Tyler was smart enough to do around the time he had a project coming out.
Do some of you really think this for publicity for his new movie? By now you don’t think he has enough followers that they will just come to the movies to see his film?? Without commenting on little Spike Lee?
Yeah he does, bunch of women…
