*Daaaayuum, talk about crickets!
“Why Did I Get Married” actor Richard T. Jones embarrassed himself at this year’s University of Maryland graduation as he gave a rambling commencement speech.
In other words he wasn’t prepared. He wasted everybody’s time and made whoever invited him, wish they hadn’t made that decision.
As he stammered his way through the almost interminable 15 minutes he was at the mic, he tried several times to blame it on the speakers who preceded him:
“Wow! I had this great speech ready for you guys and then you put me behind a bunch of doctors. You put an actor…behind a bunch of doctors…and then they said everything I wanted to say so I figure I’ll keep talking until I say something. I had such great analogies. I had such great quotes … And every one was used already. I’m glad I looked up a word called improv because that is what is going to happen here.”
Only what he came up with was NOT improv. But in retrospect if it wasn’t so sad watching him die in front of thousands, it would be funny. Then again, after you watch it, if you can, you just might think it IS funny.
Watch:

I just researched this guy and I don’t see what would have qualified him for delivering a keynote. He is an entertaining actor but some of the blame should be shouldered by the University of Maryland.
I watched this mess last night — he should be ashamed of himself for his rambling ‘thoughts’. But he’s still a sexy piece of dark chocolate, though–
“Thanks Mr. Jones for your THOUGHTS.”…LOL…the school President or whoever the genteleman was even cracked on him. Mr. Jones should have just read the speech he prepared regardless of the prior speakers. I heard Hill Harper give a commencement speech about 2 years ago in a school in North Carolina and he was excellent, engaging and very inspirational. “Mr.Jones” needs to stick to acting.
Well Mr Hill Harper is not only an excellent actor but he is articulate, intelligent as well and if I am not mistaken a Harvard grad.
@babycakes you’re right hill harper did go to harvard. That’s where him & President Obama became friends and he’s highly intelligent.
This is sad, he actually didn’t know what to say. I’m shocked.
Clearly he wasn’t prepared to give a speech. This was indeed sad to stand before that crowd and Ab-lib your speech? He knows better and should have been prepared to do so. If he wasn’t then decline the offer don’t go in front of a crowd and embarass yourself!
