*Chaka Khan is busier than ever. The legendary artist is currently working on a duets album, including a Led Zeppelin cover alongside Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler.
“We literally just clicked,” Khan tells Billboard.com of Tyler. “We were at Elton John’s party and we got to talking and we both wanted to sing together. We said, ‘Let’s do a mutual song, by you know, a neutral band — a band that we both love,’ and we both love Zeppelin.”
But her work doesn’t stop there. She’s also looking at a collaborative effort with Akon to generate a jazzy tribute concert dedicated to Joni Mitchell. This project is bound to be major since she’ll be teaming with Herbie Hancock and the Swell Season’s Glen Hansard. The concert is planned to hit the Hollywood Bowl August 17.
On top of all of that, Khan will be traveling as she is touring the country.
“I pretty much just live in the moment, and I always have,” says the singer. “Whatever happens, you gotta go with it, and I’ve been really blessed with this life choice that I made, which makes me happy. Keeps me sane. It’s an all-around good thing that I turned out to be a singer.”
Chaka’s prolific career was recently recognized with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame recently.
