*As the first season of CBS’ daytime chat show “The Talk” enters the rear view mirror, co-host Holly Robinson Peete talks about how the series fit perfectly into her busy lifestyle.
“I’ve been on TV as an actress for almost 30 years, going on 30 years since ‘21 Jump Street,’ but in my role as a mom of four, all I do all day is talk about mom stuff. So this was a natural fit,” she told us. “I’m not going to lie. I love the schedule. I can go pick my kids up. After we shoot, I can go get my kids from school. You know, I can be present as a mother. So it was just a jackpot for me personally to have a job, and opportunity to do a job like this.
There is at least one person on the planet that might enjoy Holly’s daytime gig more than she does.
“My daughter, she’s 12, she loves the fact that I’m on TV. She loved watching ‘Celebrity Apprentice.’ She loves everything that I do on TV,” said Holly. “My kids, four of them, they love it. My children are all, ‘Can we go to work with you?’”
When Holly and her co-hosts promoted the show last summer, Holly said she was happy that it aired each day while the kids were in school, — so she could talk about them.
“The one thing my daughter did say that was completely and totally off limits was her — sorry, guys — her menstrual cycle.”
After pointing out that she’s discussing it right now, Holly said, “She’s not going to read all of this. If we talk about it on the show, she might know, but this, she won’t see. My point is that that’s the one thing I’m not allowed to, let’s say, expand upon, and I’m bummed about that – because I think the stories of my husband and him dealing with this are priceless, but we won’t go there.
“You ain’t heard it from me.”
