"American Idol" judge, Randy Jackson, flashes a peace sign as he goes shopping in Santa Monica. (May 28, 2011)

*“American Idol’ judge Randy Jackson is looking to join Anderson Cooper and Katie Couric as newcomers in fall’s daytime talk show arena.

The Hollywood Reporter is citing sources who say Jackson, already a reality TV producer with MTV’s “Randy Jackson Presents America’s Best Dance Crew,” has been pitching a talk show concept to potential buyers around town. Despite his Grammy-winning music background, the show, which Jackson would front, would not be limited to musical guests.

“He wants to talk about things that will be hip next,” says one knowledgeable source. “He thinks he has his finger on the pulse.”

Meanwhile, “America’s Best Dance Crew,” hosted by Mario Lopez, has been on the air for six seasons.

Earlier in his career, Jackson spent eight years as the vp of A&R at Columbia Records followed by four as senior vp of A&R at MCA Records. He has also recorded, toured, performed and produced records for artists such as Madonna, Elton John and Whitney Houston, giving him plenty to talk about on a chat show.
