*The death of Teena Marie affected millions across the globe, but nothing like her daughter Alia Rose. She was the one who discovered her mother unconscious last December and called 911. After six months, she’s still dealing.
“I’ve been coping,” Rose tells the BoomBox. “I have a therapist. I love God, I talk to him and I talk to my mom. It gets harder … You only miss them more, but you have to just know that they’re there. You have to know that there’s a reason for everything.”
In the midst of her coping, Alia is following in her mother’s footsteps and is working on her debut album. Her stage/professional name is Rose LeBeau. She’s also gleaned from her mother on which direction to take her career.
“[I’ve learned] don’t sign anything [without looking it over],” Rose shares. “That’s the No. 1 thing my mom used to say, and keep your publishing. I’ve been doing music for a long time, almost 15 years. I’m working on my project with my producers Nick Rose and Anthony Vasquez, they’re amazing.”
