*Keri Hilson made an un-befitting comment on Twitter the other day when she said something about the late Amy Winehouse.
She posted a photo of a woman who she thinks holds a close resemblance to the late singer — attached to an interesting comment nonetheless. That then fused a firestorm of angry replies from Winehouse fans.
Keri tweeted: “Gasp! Amy Winehouse resurrected to party w/me!!! (seriously, uncanny resemblance)” and came under attack from folks calling her “insensitive” and “offensive.”
But Keri had to respond.
“Come on, I mean no harm. All due respect. But really the resemblance freaked me out this was simply the best tribute ever. #RIPAMYWINEHOUSE. I apologize 2 anyone who might’ve taken it the wrong way. I had no ill intent, but I understand how it appears insensitive… my bad twitterville. For real.”
Speaking of the deceased singer, Winehouse’s private service was held Tuesday afternoon in North London and was attended by 200 close family and friends.
The singer’s ex-husband who is currently imprisoned for burglary and firearms charges, was not permitted to leave to attend the funeral.
Even if he was, there may have been an issue with Winehouse’s father. According to reports, he credits the ex to introducing his daughter to drugs.
Her father also administered the eulogy with a bit of humor.
As of late, the cause of death is unknown. The coroner is awaiting toxicology results. Findings are expected to be presented by Oct. 26.
In keri’s defense the comment was not that offensive/insensitive I have heard worse. Some people can be ultra sensitive at times.
I hear you babycakes but, she could’ve waited to tweet that silliness…nothing is funny 2-seconds after someone dies. And while we’re at it, the resemblence? I didn’t see it.
Since her last album stalled on the charts she has to do something to remain relevant! However – this is such a low blow and she should be vilified in the press [something she may want]. I am sure if this was one of her family members she would be more sympathetic and stop with the shenanigans!!!
