M.C. Hammer to Help with Business Mentorship

*M.C. Hammer seemingly got a new lease on life and is giving his time back to the community.

He’s decided to take part in a new mentoring program for minority-led start-up businesses.

As part of the New Media Entrepreneurship accelerator program in Silicon Valley, Hammer, whose real name is Stanley Burrell, will be advising seven minority-run businesses across the country. The owners will live in a rented house in Mountain View, Calif. and work there or in a space in San Francisco.

His first piece of advice, “You don’t have to invent the wheel, but you might want to be the company that invents the rims,” he told The Wall Street Journal.

He will also make regular visits to the entrepreneurs and keep an eye on their progress.

This brother said he’d to it all over again to assist his people. Hammer steadfastly said this on a number of occasions. That’s how we should be, how we used to be, that’s why this brother will be eternally blessed. You can’t none of that shit with you when ya go.

  3. Good for him. I’ve heard him talk on OPrah and he truly has an entrepreneur’s mind. He is a very innovative thinker.

I actually saved that episode for a while because I was so impressed.
