*”True Blood’s” Rutina Wesley, who plays Tara Thornton on the HBO vampire show, gave a little insight into season 4’s adventures in a recent interview.

“You’re gonna find out where Tara went to and what she’s been up to. She’s a lot more grounded, but that’s not going to last for long. She’s gonna get swept back up into the world of vampires in Bon Temps.”

She added that love could find its way into Tara’s life in the new season. But for now, Wesley said, “She had some time to learn to love herself.”

When asked by Sister 2 Sister who was responsible for the hair change in Tara’s character, she commented that it was a mutual decision.

“It was sort of a mutual decision. I was thinking about changing my hair and they were thinking about my character going through this cathartic moment,” she said. “It made sense to changer her hair. I miss the braids because braids are more easy. People are going to look at my character in a different way with this new look. It shows that she’s been through something and comes back almost as a different person.”

Wesley also shared some thoughts about being a black woman in the industry, saying the pickings are slim.

“It’s really hard for us as black women, and in general. It’s tough for us. We ultimately get really competitive ’cause it’s only two parts, and we’re all competing for those two parts. However, whoever gets that role, that person needs our support.”

HBO’s “True Blood airs Sundays at 9pm E/P.
