*NY Yankee Alex Rodriguez could be getting into some trouble with the MLB since allegations of him playing illegal poker games have surfaced.
According to ESPN.com, he could face suspension.
“We take this very seriously and have been investigating this matter since the initial allegation,” MLB said in a statement. “As part of the investigation, the commissioner’s office will interview Mr. Rodriguez.”
A-Rod, as he is infamously called, even provoked the league to consider if he’s even worth its time and money. A league exec, who remains anonymous, shared with the network that if he’s found guilty, he may have to sit out a while.
“We’re talking to people involved in the investigation and we’re taking this very seriously,” he said. “Because he had been warned about this before, I would say a possible suspension would be very much in play.”
The league is also concerned that his name will resurface in the federal investigation of Dr. Anthony Galea, the Toronto doctor who pleaded guilty in July to smuggling human growth hormone and other illegal substances into the U.S. He treated Rodriguez in the past.
The whole thing started when the claims first appeared in Star Magazine, unveiling that the athlete participated in at least two games, one of which took place at a Beverly Hill’s mansion “where cocaine was openly used” and a fight broke out after one of the players refused to pay after losing over a half-million dollars.
