*Kanye West’s life story has become the subject of a new musical in Australia.
Producer Phillip Rosser, a student at the University of Sydney, and his writing partner Damien Higginbottom are the creators of Kanye: The Musical, which highlights West’s early life and his career successes.
“This is a story of a struggle against the man to become the man. It’s about a guy who took a shot at the throne and didn’t miss,” reads a post on the play’s official website.
Rosser tells the Los Angeles Times: “I’m a big Kanye fan. I thought that a musical in his honor would be a lot of fun to put on. I really just meant the show to be something fun for my friends to see, and I’m pretty excited by all the attention it’s been getting.”
All of the songs in the musical will be written in the style of Kanye and will feature Rosen as Kanye and Higginbotham as Kanye’s mother, the late Donda West, Marc Jacobs and a character called “Spooky Dracula.”
The show itself will show at the university’s Cellar Theater from Sept. 5-7 as part of Sydney’s Verge Festival.
