*Cicely Tyson, in all of her glory and talent, was honored as one of the 2011 Freedom Awards winners, sponsored by the National Civil Rights Museum in Memphis.
In the spirit of revolution and social justice, for the 20th anniversary, the awards were given to civil rights pioneers in education, sports, humanitarianism, the arts, activism and legal justice.
Tyson was honored for her work in the arts, along with Danny Glover for his activism.
Her plastic surgeon did an amazing job

I can’t think of any two more deserving thespians to receive this award! Kudos to the both of them and I hope they continue to inspire and bring about change!
