Obama Supporters to Launch Rally outside the ‘Smiley and West Radio Station’

Barack Obama & Najee Ali

*Najee Ali and his Project Islamic Hope organization make no bones about being supporters of President Obama. They’re also tired of Tavis Smiley, Cornel West, Ralph Nader and anyone else they consider Obama haters (Maxine Waters, you listening?)

And what are they going to do about it you ask? Well, on Thursday, September 29 from 12:00pm – 1:00pm, they’re going to stage a rally outside the ‘Smiley and West Radio Station’ at 4434 Crenshaw Blvd. (Near Vernon Ave and Crenshaw Blvd.) Los Angeles, CA 90043.

Here’s Najee Ali’s support rally/protest justification statement:

“Tavis Smiley has been a critic of President Obama from the onset of his historic election and now Dr. Cornel West is leading a grassroots online community known as the New Progressive Alliance (NPA) in an effort to name a candidate as a primary challenger to President Obama. West has also teamed with consumer advocate Ralph Nader to help bring down President Obama.

Dr. West has every right to support who he wants to for President. But so do we. Dr. West and his attacks on President Obama do not reflect the opinions of the … majority of African Americans. So we cant allow Black leadership to front off our President.

If President Obama is not re-elected then the alternative will be much worse for African Americans. The Tea Party and the Republican party don’t care about African Americans or the issues that are important to us!

Stop Dr. Cornel West from helping to put us back on the plantation and send him a message that we support the President and not the viewpoint of West and Nader.

Remember back to 2000, when Nader himself ran as a third-party candidate? It’s important to remember what happens when Nader gets involved in challenging a Democrat. In 2000, he siphoned enough votes from Al Gore in Florida to swing the election to President Bush. It gave us eight years of Bush-Cheney politics and policies!

If West were being honest he would understand that 2000 was an example of what the consequences can be for the country.

A primary challenge could further divide the party and possibly dampen Democratic enthusiasm. These races could erode our ability to reach swing voters, who are crucial to electoral viability, by forcing candidates to draw a sharper contrast on issues than necessary to win an election.

By running as an independent and drawing votes in Florida that might otherwise have gone to Gore, Nader helped usher in eight of the worst years our country has ever seen. The fact that West would join forces with Nader can and should not go unchallenged. President Obama is not perfect. But the alternative will harm African Americans and the nation deeply. Lets tell West, and Tavis, how we really feel,” stated Najee Ali, Director of Project Islamic HOPE

  1. i love it!!

  2. lol What are they protesting exactly? Someone’s right to vote for who they wish? Ignant negroes are a stain on the Black community. Truly embarrassing. Btw, can Najee Ali even vote? Isn’t he a felon or something?

    • KNow what I’m saying?

This dumb negra is protesting Tavis’ right to question the damn president of the united states of america. Now what kinda nigga shyt is that right there!

And yes, he was recently released from prison for trynna intimidate and bribe a witness in his daughter’s criminal trial. Yes, intimidate and bribe so they wouldn’t speak out….how ironic hunh?

He’s the same dumb ass he was before he went to jail.

    • I agree,it’s very embarrassing.People that worship and support Obama need to realize that they are not the only voices in the Black community nor do they represent all Blacks.

Black people do not owe Obama their vote no more than White people do since he is also half White but for some reason Blacks are expected to be lockstep with Obama who has done nothing but move with a lot of arrogance when it comes to Black people.

Many of these Obama supporters will always talk about Republicans trying to disenfranchise the Black vote but Obama supporters are the ones that are disenfranchising Blacks. It amounts to some sort of political “gangster” because it’s as if they want the world to only hear what they say and I don’t put it past Obama/Clinton or and other person in The Democratic hierarchy to have orchestrated this nonsense.I mean to protest people for giving their opinion is complete nonsense.

  3. @TGen,

“Ignant negroes are a stain on the Black community. Truly embarrassing.”

Indeed!!! This won’t be forgotten and is going to backfire on Obama come election day. I’m deeply offended and mortified these fools would dare make a protest. Isn’t it something they don’t have the backbone to attack their true enemies???

  4. The most of you, the first word that came to mind when I heard about it was embarrassing. It’s embarrassing on a lot of levels. First, it is embarrassing for black people. Although there is a vocal minority of us that totally abhors such behavior, the ignant few who supports this will be used as the measuring stick for where blacks stand on such behavior.

Black people fought for the right to petition the government for the redress of grievances, so what message are these people trying to send.

I think Obama himself is also embarrassed and offended by this behavior. It cast him in a negative light to those who would believe that he supports this behavior.
But also judging by the distance that Obama strived to maintain from the likes of Farrakhan and Muslims in general, I got to assume that he cringes at the thought of how white people will react that a black Muslim is out there marching on his behalf.

But as TGen asked, “what are they protesting exactly?”

If you look at the reasons given by Najee, it’s quite clear that he doesn’t follow the news, or he is unable to comprehend it. Nader was quite clear that they had no intention of defeating Obama in a primary. The idea was to make him a better candidate, one who was willing to listen to his base.

    • “Nader was quite clear that they had no intention of defeating Obama in a primary”

Hate to break it to you Reds, but Nader and Dr. West and others may not be planning on “defeating” Obama, but they are absolutely committed to finding a challenger for him (as well they should). Gotta start somewhere I suppose…

“Can there really be a meaningful difference between the two major parties when the results – rampant unemployment, perpetual war, environmental degradation, and the erosion of our social safety net – are the same, regardless which party is running things?”

  5. What are they going to do? Call Tavis names? Will they address the issues that Tavis has brought up about the President? If they do that then they will lose. I would love for Tavis to have them on his show and show them for the sheep for Obama that they are. This is coming from someone that will probably vote for Obama again because I won’t vote for these Republicans they have, but I’m not happy about everything Obama has done and the need for these supporters of his to try and shut people up that don’t agree with him. I see this as a effort to shut down black people with different opinons about Obama because I don’t see the protesting FOX News.

  6. Why don’t more point out that West & Smiley have made assumptions w/o fact checking? The payroll tax reduction (beneficial to workers who may or may not pay income tax), extended unemployment benefits, & keeping income tax low for the working class have served many of us during this economy. President Obama has extended healthcare to 11 million additional children via the CHIP (vetoed by Bush). The stimulus saved state Medicaid programs, the biggest health care provider to many AAs. Health care Reform will provide subsidies for lower-income uninsured individuals (many who are AA) and funds badly needed community clinics.
Increased Pell grants, colleges, reformed to make higher education more affordable. Don’t forget the largest grants ever to HBCUs.
They haven’t noticed reform of crack cocaine sentencing and that non-violent offenders are now eligible for early release. Black farmers were recently finally awarded their long awaited settlement. He saved the auto industry and many jobs held by African-Americans in the Midwest. And what bills insuring healthier meals are served in our nation’s public schools, thereby addressing the issue of childhood obesity, a subject that affects more children in the African-American community than in others.
Wall Street’s hoarding over $2T that would revive our economy with loans businesses need to expand & hire. If West & Smiley were sincerely committed to the welfare of Black folk, they’d be down at Wall Street among the protesters who really ‘get it.’ Until then, they’re only the usual garden variety ‘Haters.’
