*A year after media guru Ryan Seacrest announced that he would be teaming with two companies to launch a music and lifestyle network, rumors are beginning to spread that he’ll be taking over VH1’s Soul network.
The “American Idol” host, along with entertainment giant AEG and MTV have been in talks about the deal, however, according to an insider, nothing is final.
The Seacrest camp declined to comment on the matter.
Based on the information he shared last year with The Hollywood Reporter, Seacrest is planning to have a network that will most likely garner programming from AEG’s worldwide concert and live venue assets, but would not be a competitor with the E! network.
VH1 Soul, a spinoff of MTV Networks’ VH1 channel, is a little-watched digital cable and satellite network aimed at fans of soul and R&B, according to the Viacom website.
