*Actor/director/screenwriter/producer/author Tyler Perry, whose films have grossed more than $500 million worldwide, sits alone atop a new Forbes list of the highest-paid men in entertainment, beating out such contenders as Simon Cowell, Jerry Bruckheimer and Leonardo DiCaprio.
From May 2010 to May 2011, Perry raked in $130 million from a number of ventures, including his TV shows, “Meet the Browns” and “House of Payne,” as well as his variety of Madea films and DVDs and his upcoming feature film role as the detective in “I, Alex Cross.”
Just behind Perry is producer Bruckheimer at $113 million, which comes from his take for the $1 billion-grossing fourth installment of the “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise, as well as his hand in producing a number of hit TV shows, including “The Amazing Race” and the “CSI” franchise.
Spielberg is third with $107 million, earned in part from his upcoming pair of big-budget films, “War Horse” and “The Adventures of Tintin.” Fourth is the only musician on the list, Elton John ($100 million), whose riches come from his back catalog and a world tour that grossed $204 million.
“X Factor” judge/creator Simon Cowell rounds out the top five with $90 million.
Also in the top 10: author James Patterson ($84 million), TV host Dr. Phil McGraw ($80 million), DiCaprio ($77 million), satellite radio titan Howard Stern ($76 million) and golfer Tiger Woods ($75 million).

He done parlayed his minstrel shows into MILLIONS!! no matter what people think of his material, that is still an amazing and admirable accomplishment! GO TYLER…. I’m mad at Mr Brown, but not at you!!

Good for him – plus he constantly HIRING black thespians and re-igniting their careers! At least the brother is doing for his people as oppose to some others! “How can you hate on that, Spike?”

But I can hate on how he got to that point. Don’t you know, or haven’t you maybe thought about how difficult it is for even someone with talent to get a role which usually doesn’t happen unless they are willing to buy-in to the sale? Just take a close look at the roles, what they portray (you gotta look real close at times) and the ones that ain’t in the spotlight anymore – where did they go? Souled! Out to the highest bidder…a tore-up a**hole for millions of dollars. I guess that’s an admirable and even exchange – these daze.

Well good for him and you have to love how white folk take some of the most low quality, silly, coon-type material and make it out to be something great. Can’t blame them without blaming weak black folk who support bullshit just because it’s a black man who brought it to them. His material in so many ways lack creativity & it’s so predictable. His sit-coms are just joke…..BAD JOKES! I’m sorry and believe me I’m happy that he’s able to employee black folk, but if your putting out inferior material I don’t care who you are, I’m not supporting it! Let him trying to put out something with some depth and thats serious and see what happens! As long as he keeps on making the same type of films that he’s been making that has the same beginning, middle, and ending (black men ain’t shit & then along comes just one who is perfect to save the day) weak black folk will support it. It’s time to open up your eyes people and really see just how less than great a film maker he really is!!
