*Funnyman Kevin Hart has a new role to play on comedy series “Modern Family.”
He’ll be Andre, a physician and new neighbor of Phil Dunphy. When he begins production, he’ll be starring alongside former “Soul Plane” co-star Sofia Vergara.
Recently, the Philadelphia native and his Hartbeat Productions pulled off an unexpected victory at the box office with his debut standup film “Laugh at My Pain,” which follows his recent national tour run.
It debuted inside of the box office top 10 ranking and pulled in nearly $2 million, in just 97 theaters, for an impressive per-location gross of $20,619. The film only cost $750,000 to make.

Okay… I love Modern Family. I love Kevin Hart… This is a great marriage! I can’t wait. I hope the writers know what they are doing.
I hope this is a one time guest spot. Which I think it is from what I’ve read elsewhere. No offense but the show doesn’t needs the chemistry messed up with Kevin Hart. If he is added to the cast, then I hope I’m wrong about the chemistry. Also, since Kevin Hart is the new “it” comic, I would be surprised if he would take a spot on a hit show. Shouldn’t he want his own show like the other comics got shows centered around them?
It sounds more like a re-occuring role. Consider Kevin Hart’s comedic style I think he would do well on the show plus add some color. I don’t see him as permanent cast though… I think you’re right on that point, Thamona.
