Michael Vick Sets All-Time QB Rushing Record

Michael Vick #7 of the Philadelphia Eagles drops back to pass during the second half at Ralph Wilson Stadium on Oct. 9, 2011 in Orchard Park, New York

*Michael Vick of the Philadelphia Eagles broke the all-time quarterback rushing record on Sunday, passing a former Eagles’ great with a run in the third quarter against Buffalo.

Vick rushed for 90 yards in a 31-24 loss to the Bills. That increased his career rushing total to a league-record 4,948 yards, breaking the record for quarterbacks previously held by Eagles vet Randall Cunningham (4,928).

“It’s great,” Vick said. “You work hard, you play this game to try to be the best at what you do and I continue to do that. I continue to play this game with 110 percent effort each and every Sunday. I give it everything I got.”

He set the mark with a 53-yard scamper in the third quarter. That run was the second-longest of his career, topped only by a 58-yarder against Arizona in 2004 when Vick was playing for Atlanta.

Vick also threw two touchdown passes against the Bills to boost his career total to 101.

But there were also mistakes. He threw four interceptions. He was two picks short of the Eagles’ single-game record. Bobby Thomason and Pete Liske threw six interceptions in a game in 1956 and 1971, respectively.

Three of Vick’s interceptions were tipped passes. The other, which Bills linebacker Nick Barnett returned 31 yards for a touchdown, came as he was hit by linebacker Kelvin Sheppard.

“You know as a quarterback an interception is an interception,” Vick said. “You hate balls that are tipped because you can’t control that. But an interception is an interception and you just can’t have them in this game.”

For the season, Vick has 10 turnovers – seven interceptions and three lost fumbles. He threw only six interceptions last season.

      Winning?!

Are you guys for real? The last time I checked, the Eagles were 1-4.

Trust me, in the the NFL, that’s the only winning that counts.

Saw what they did with McNabb once he stopped winning for them?

Y’all may want to pay close attention to what Andy Reid said, “There’s nobody to blame but me.”

I don’t know exactly what he meant by that, but I take it as a veiled threat to on field personnel. The first target is usually the QB.

Glad to see that Mcnabb finally got a win. Well, Adrian Peterson surely bailed him out.

Sorry to disappoint you, but Vick is a part of the Eagles.
If they not “winning”, neither is he.

At the end of the day, the most important statistics defining a player, is winning a championship.
Props to Vick, but all that rushing record won’t substitute for “winning.”
