*“The X-Factor” could’ve used Rihanna’s “Umbrella” last night. The FOX singing competition had to cancel its scheduled 8 p.m. broadcast due to a rain delayed Game 4 of the American League Championship Series.

Riri was to debut as a guest mentor with L.A. Reid on Wednesday’s episode featuring the judges’ homes, but Fox announced at about 5 p.m. that it was pulling the airing due to the rain delay.

Fox will air Wednesday’s show tonight at 8 p.m. And tonight’s originally-scheduled broadcast will now air on Sunday at 8 p.m. (That stands for both the East and West Coast airings.) The show will return to its previous schedule with an episode next Tuesday at 8 p.m.

As previously reported, the 32 acts that survived the show’s “Boot Camp” will visit a judge’s home or another location of his or her choice, where the judge will mentor them toward trying to earn a place on the live shows.

Rihanna will help Reid, and “additional superstar guest mentors” will join the other judges, Fox said. The other mentors will be revealed tonight.
