*It is starting to look a lot like Christmas in Leimert Park Village. 8th District Councilmember Bernard C. Parks, his wife Bobbie and staff ushered in the Holidays with the annual Christmas Tree Lighting Celebration in Leimert Park on Monday, November 28th. A large, merry crowd was in attendance for the festive celebration that also featured some very talented local artists providing entertainment.
Entertainment was provided by vocalist Tamecha Devant singing several original gospel tunes. Vocalist Chris Lyric setting the mood with “This Christmas” and “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas Night” and concluded with a crowd favorite “Santa Claus is Coming to Town.” Additional entertainment was provided by a local cheerleading group and a very funny local 9 year old comedian. Vocalist Asia Shabazz brought a lot of energy to the celebration singing two original tunes, followed by the always wonderful Lil Tommy the Clown and his wonderful group of young dancers.
Councilmember Bernard C. Park, 8th District, his wife Bobbie and other community members hit the switch to light up the magnificent Christmas tree. The beautifully adorned tree stands 100 feet high, and can be viewed in the heart of Leimert Park Village at Crenshaw Blvd. and Vernon Ave. Don’t be surprised if you receive a photo in your email inbox, a text with a photo and/or a Facebook update with your friends posing in front of this giant tree at night.
Vocalists Zia and D’Shawn provided additional musical entertainment after the Tree Lighting portion of the program. Councilmember Bernard C. Parks and his wife Bobbie and staff invite the community to join them at the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza for the 9th Annual Winter Wonderland Celebration and Toy Giveaway from 10:00AM-1:00PM.
