*Floyd Mayweather Jr. has scheduled his next fight for May 5, 2012, but an opponent has yet to be chosen. If the boxer has his way, Manny Pacquiao will be in the opposite corner.

“We’re looking to make the biggest fight possible and everyone knows what that fight is, the little fella,” Mayweather’s advisor Leonard Ellerbe told espn.com.

Boxing fans have been desperate to see the two superstars throw down. Mayweather’s team has reportedly booked the slot at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on May 5 – with the plan to lure Pacquiao.

“Floyd made it very clear that he wants to give the fans the biggest fights that are out there. He wants to stay active,” Ellerbe said. “We’re going to do everything in our power to make the biggest fight out there for the fans and we all know what the fight is.”

Mayweather beat Victor Ortiz in controversial circumstances on Sept. 17 following a 16-month absence from the ring. Pacquiao is currently preparing for his third fight with Juan Manuel Marquez on Nov. 12 at the MGM Grand.
