J. Edgar Hoover … the Black Man?!

*All have known for a long time that it seemed that the former head of the FBI, J. Edgar Hoover, had an axe to grind in the black community.

He attacked, sabotaged, and thwarted any organization of African American people through civil rights leaders and activists like Marcus Garvey’s United Negro Improvement Association, Martin Luther King’s Southern Christian Leadership Conference, and the Black Panther Party.

But now, with the surfacing of new background information on the crime czar, it appears he was experiencing some sort of self-hatred … because he too was a black man passing for white. (more…)

    Himmm … do we have a pattern here?

    Spike Lee: “Clint Eastwood made two films about Iwo Jima that ran for more than four hours total, and there was not one Negro actor on the screen,” he said. “If you reporters had any balls you’d ask him why. There’s no way I know why he did that. That was his vision, not mine. But I know it was pointed out to him and that he could have changed it. It’s not like he didn’t know.”

    Mr. Eastwood, what’s up with that?

    Er’body wants to do these “accurate” historical movies, but they still seems to want to skirt around the issue of race. Private Ryan, Flags of Our Fathers, Letters from Iwo Jima, J. Edgard …
